Where are we?
We are in Borgata Paraloup
It hosted the first headquarters of the partisan squads of Giustizia e Libertà in the province of Cuneo.
The location is linked to the memory of Nuto Revelli, an officer from the Alpine troops, who fought on the Russian front in 1941 before joining the Paraloup ‘Free Italy’ group in February 1944. He later travelled with the IV Group to the Arma Valley and then to France. After the war, he published several books on his experience of the Fascist war and the partisan struggle.
Abandoned for several decades, the hamlet was restored in 2013 by the Nuto Revelli Foundation as part of an innovative and sustainable architectural project. The Foundation bought the abandoned huts in Paraloup with a view to turning them into a memorial site to commemorate the partisan war, but also to protect the mountains and peasant culture, while being entirely respectful of the local area. Today, it features the Museum of Storytelling, a library and a conference room, a reception area, and the Paraloup tourist accommodation Refuge.
