Where are we?
We are at the Museum of the Resistancea in Chiusa di Pesio
Inaugurated in 2004, the permanent exhibition called “Memorial trail” features objects, videos, audio documents and printed materials dedicated to the 20th century, the wars and the partisan fight.
The Museum of the Resistance in Chiusa Pesio was established in 2003 after twenty years of reflection and historical research on the partisan movement in the Monregalese valleys.
It contains documents, images, objects, and audio and film recordings which made it possible to reconstruct these events and place them in their regional and national context. Visitors can see reconstructions of, for example, the clandestine printing press used for the Rinascita d’Italia (Rebirth of Italy) information sheet and one of the two-way radio stations linking the partisans and the Allied forces. They can also examine numerous documents and propaganda objects circulated by the Nazi-Fascists, and the equipment and photographs of Don Giuseppe Bruno. Known as ‘the rebel priest’, Bruno is responsible for an important body of images on the Resistance which is considered one of the most important in Italy to have been passed down.
Finally, the tour offers visitors much food for thought, beginning with the everyday objects that belonged to the combatants, as well as several tools used by the Nazi-Fascists who operated in the Monregalese area to interrogate and torture prisoners which were found at the end of the war.
